When I first
built The Brendan Rocker for my newborn son, I wished to create a sense of
permanence and beauty in one of our everyday possessions. Using my intimate
knowledge of wood and tools, I designed a chair that was comfortable, rocked
easily, and felt pleasing to the touch. Soon I realized the Brendan Rocker had
universal appeal. But I had no idea it would evolve into such a well-loved piece
of furniture.
The Brendan Rocker is offered in seven different hardwoods: Cherry, Figured Maple, Black Walnut, Ash, African Mahogany, Bubinga and Mango. I make the Brendan Rocker in two models: the Original Cushion Seat version and the Wood Seat version featuring a deep contoured scoop, introduced in 2002. The two models are not simply the same chair with or without a cushion on the seat but distinctly different construction. The Wood seat model features large matched planks, free of blemishes and internal flaws. For the Cushion seat model twelve different fabrics and Leathers are available, or you may supply your own. I use a premium cushion (two inches of HR60 foam). I do offer a webbed seat below the foam although most people find the foam only "more than comfortable". The back is 46" off the floor and the width is 26" across the arms, with an overall depth of 33" |
